About bookbirdy

Built on real session days.

bookbirdy didn't start as a software company. It started as a fix for one busy family photography studio.

Picture a fall mini session season: newborns in between, holiday sessions already booking, and a phone full of messages. Did the Harper family sign their contract? Did the Nguyens pay their deposit? Is this family okay with their kids' faces on Instagram? The answers lived in a calendar, a payment app, a contract app, an inbox and a stack of sticky notes.

The all-in-one business apps didn't fit. They're made for every kind of creative business, so they ask you to build pipelines and proposals before you can book a single family. None of them really understood a mini session day, or why a parent's photo release matters so much.

So we built the tool that studio actually needed, side by side with a working family and mini session photographer. Every feature in bookbirdy started as a real problem on a real session day, and it was tested on the next one:

  • A booking page that gets the contract signed and the deposit paid, so there's nothing to chase.
  • Kids' names and ages, remembered, so returning families never fill out the same form twice.
  • Every family's photo release in one place, so the wrong photo never gets posted.
  • A session day screen that works with one hand, between families, in a field.

That studio still runs on bookbirdy every day. Now we're opening it up to other photographers who work with families.

What we care about

How we build bookbirdy.

Made for one kind of photographer

Family, newborn and mini session photographers. Saying no to everything else keeps bookbirdy simple.

At your desk and on the go

Plan your season and your launches on your laptop. Check families in from your phone on session day.

Nothing sent by surprise

Automatic emails are off until you turn them on, and anything that emails a group or moves money needs a press and hold.

Families' trust

Studios' data stays separate and private. We never sell it, and never use it for ads.

We're a small company in North Carolina, and we read every email.

Questions, ideas, or something that's bugging you? We'd love to hear it.
